Telecom operator Vodafone Idea (Vi) has partnered with global tech giant Cisco to enhance its 4G and 5G services through advanced networking solutions. As part of the collaboration, Vi will deploy a cutting-edge Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)-based transport network powered by Cisco.
This partnership is a key component of Vodafone Idea&rsquo;s ambitious ₹30,000 crore network expansion plan, which was announced last year. The telecom firm has already engaged major players like Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung for its infrastructure upgrades.
MPLS technology allows network slicing into multiple layers, enabling efficient transmission of services such as voice, data, and video over the same infrastructure. The new deployment is expected to significantly improve Vi&rsquo;s network performance and service reliability across India.
While the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, Cisco stated that this collaboration would be instrumental in transforming Vi&rsquo;s network infrastructure to meet the growing demand for high-speed mobile connectivity.
