Delhi NCR-based AI startup Mugafi has raised $3 million (INR 25.5 crore) in a seed funding round led by StartupXseed Ventures LLP. The round also saw participation from Auxano Capital, Proneur Network, Mars Shot Ventures, Beyond Venture Partners, and We Founder Circle.
Founded in 2020 by Vipul Agrawal, Mugafi leverages generative AI to support writers and filmmakers in content creation. Its flagship AI tool, Ved, functions as a co-writer, assisting users in idea generation, plot development, character building, and dialogue writing.
The fresh capital will be utilised to strengthen Mugafi&rsquo;s technology infrastructure, hire new talent, and fuel expansion into new markets. The startup claims to have supported over 10,000 writers in creating original intellectual properties (IPs) through a blend of AI and human mentorship. It has also partnered with Excel Entertainment and develops its own IPs inspired by Indian history and epics.
Mugafi&rsquo;s funding comes amid a broader generative AI (GenAI) boom in India. The country now hosts over 200 GenAI startups with cumulative funding surpassing $1.2 billion. The domestic GenAI market is projected to reach $17 billion by 2030. Startups like FanTV and Dubdub.ai are also attracting investor attention, signalling growing momentum for AI-powered tools in content creation and media tech.
