Mumbai-based clean energy startup Aerem has raised ₹100 crore ($11.7 million) in a funding round led by Japan&rsquo;s UTEC, with participation from British International Investment (BII), SE Ventures, Riverwalk Holdings, and existing investors Blume Ventures and Avaana Capital.
With this latest investment, Aerem&rsquo;s total funding now stands at ₹166.47 crore ($19.5 million). The company had previously secured $5 million in 2023 in a climate-focused round led by Avaana Capital.
Expansion Plans &amp; Business Model
Aerem aims to scale operations across eastern and southern India while enhancing its digital platform, financing solutions, and solar marketplace.
Founded in 2021 by Anand Jain and Vikesh Agrawal, the startup streamlines solar installations by connecting users with trusted solar installers, financing solutions, and high-quality equipment.
As of April 2025, Aerem has facilitated over 800 MW of solar capacity and financed more than 800 projects, partnering with 2,000+ installation providers.
Financial Growth &amp; Market Competition
In FY24, Aerem&rsquo;s revenue surged to ₹175 crore, a significant rise from ₹1.84 crore in FY23, while its losses remained stable at ₹3.57 crore.
Aerem competes with Solarium Green Energy, Zunroof, LOOM Solar, SolarSquare Energy, Cleantech, MYSUN, Oorjan Cleantech, and Freyr Energy in India&rsquo;s rapidly expanding solar sector.
